1. Kimchi

Fermented vegetable. One of the oldest and probably most popular dishes in the Korean cuisine, Kimchi is a spicy and sour dish made of fermented vegetables. The most common ingredient is cabbage. For Koreans, without Kimchi, dinner is incomplete.

2. Bibimbap

Bibimbap is essentially a bowl of mixed ingredients. Kind of like fried rice with seasoned and sautéed vegetables, mushroom, beef, soy sauce, and chili pepper paste called gochujang.

3. Galbi

A Galbi is short ribs marinated in soy sauce. If you’re looking for a fresh new take on barbecue, then go get a Galbi. The soy sauce mixed with garlic and honey gives this dish a balance of sweetness and flavor.

4. Doenjang jjigae

It is similar to but far more pungent than miso soup. If you’re going to eat this for the first time, be wary. The earthy flavors of soybean paste can be an assault to the senses. For the Koreans, this is their chicken soup for the soul.
